Does any one know if u were pregnant with twins is there a chance again it will happen???? My sons father is a twin and my son is a twin but I miscarried his twin at a month and a half could I be pregnant with twins again

One of my husbands family member has twins, triplets, and quads with no fertility meds. With that being said the sex of the child comes from the mans side and quantity comes from the woman's. That's why even though there are twins all over my husbands family we will most likely never have them because there are none on my side

If your first twins were identical, then statistically the chances are the same as anyone else with any other pregnancy (I believe it's 1 in 285 pregnancies for identical twins). So there would be no genetic influence there. However if your first twins were fraternal, which would be caused by ovulating twice in one cycle, then that definitely does increase the chance of becoming pregnant with twins again.

Hi Amanda, I was in a similar situation.  First pregnancy twins, one vanished by 12 weeks.  Second pregnancy twins, 31 weeks now and the fighters are hanging on.  Both were di-di.  I will not be conceiving again for fear it would be twins again.  For me I thinks it's genetics as well as maternal age (conceived at 32 & 34 years old) that contributed to my twin factor.  We held our breath at the ultrasound for our second pregnancy and had to ask the doc to look for two, sure enough....

Identical twins are random with no genetic factor. Fraternal twins can be genetic, but only on a woman's side as they are the result of 2 fertilized eggs and a man has nothing to do with your egg production. So of course it's possible but there's no way to know for sure. I am a fraternal twin, I had a singleton first, now I am pregnant with di/di twin boys. I read a statistic somewhere and since I am a twin and I have a set of twins, my chance of having twins again quadruples. Not sure if it's true but that's pretty terrifying lol!

My doctor told me that once you are pregnant with twins, you are two times more likely to have another set of twins but not everyone does!
