Does anyone else have a friendly & not shy toddler??

Question

My 2 year old son will be completely comfortable with a stranger after being with them for only a few minutes & it really bothers me. He's not shy at all. How do I teach him about stranger danger & to not just go up to anyone?? Everywhere we go we're always getting told He's super friendly & not shy at all which can be a bad thing. Which we already know but don't know how to teach him about it since he's only 2.

If you’re with him he doesn’t need to be shy. He’s 2 years old. Let him be friendly and have a positive outlook on the world while he’s still young and naive.

My two year old is a social butterfly. He has learned to walk up to children at a park say "hi play" and usually hands them a toy of his. We are so surprised with be sheltered with COVID restrictions how much he loves everyone. A word we have taught him is "boundaries please" when he is getting to over friendly and in people's spaces. We do this when he is trying to sit on our laps when we are on a toilet, when he is digging into someone's bag, or when he hugging someone we don't know. Right now he is young and still likes everyone we are ok with it. One thing my Aunt taught me who teaches children safty classes at this age it is better to know names of body parts by their given name. This will deter people from doing inappropriate things with him as he will loudly talk about it. He is a bad target. Also loud children are bad targets so he is encouraged to talk a ton when we are out and about.

I think it's brilliant that he's like that! As he gets older you can talk to him more about stranger danger and he'll be able to understand but an adult is always going to be with him at this age anyway.

Mine is super friendly, I think that's a good thing. But I do work on how she needs to stay close to me when we are out doing things. She can wave at and interact with every single person in the store as long as she stays by my side.

My son runs straight at me and grabs onto my leg if anyone even looks in his direction. Especially men, he doesn’t really like men not sure why.

My two year old son is super friendly to anyone, for the most part. He will run into a strangers arms and hug them. He can hold a conversation with someone at the store if he wanted to. He does get shy at times and will cling onto me. I take it as a sign and stick with him.

My overly friendly and not shy 2 year old turned into an overly friendly and not shy 7 year old. My husband works for the city we live next to and he had an officer talk to him about stranger dangers and when it’s okay to be friendly and when he must stay close to me and not to run off or talk to strangers. 2 year olds don’t understand the concept fully give it time but if it continues have someone talk to them when they are older.

My 3 yr old son will go up to just literally anyone and talk to them,  sit right next to them,  etc. I get why you're worried but for now he's constantly supervised anyway. When he can understand more or will be out of my sight we will explain more to him.
