What direction to take

I'm still currently under my moms health insurance and I haven't told her that I'm expecting. I honestly don't want to have this baby on her insurance. Need suggestions. Do I have any other options available 😕

I was also on my parents insurance when I found out I was pregnant. Their insurance was actually going to cover the pregnancy and baby afterwards, but since I am over 22 and not a full time student as I'm taking the year off from graduate school to have the baby, the insurance is dropping me in January. I have signed up for Medicaid for myself with no problems and it will also cover the baby once he is born.

Would a regular ob/gyn give me this information or would I have to go to a government health department for this?

I would definitely suggest getting on Medicaid if you qualify. I made the horrible decision to stay on my mothers now im paying 1200$ out of pocket for labor and delivery not including the three hospital visit bills that I have to pay about a grand for combined. Don't get me wrong insurance covered ALOT but I'm also broke and can't pay for the bills I hav.e I wish I would've gotten on Medicaid but it's too late now

Are you in the USA? There's public insurance, which is free, you can qualify for if your income is low enough. You can still get help paying for a different plan too through the affordable Care act if your income is too high for free public insurance. You might start there.

I'm covered under my moms insurance (Aetna) as well as Medicaid.  So I don't have to pay anything at all, which is nice. I'd take advantage of it if you are able, because pregnancy can get expensive. Don't be afraid to tell your mom either, it's a happy moment even when it may not seem like it

Most insurances won't cover the pregnancy anyways. My mother's didn't. I had to apply for Medicaid which covers both me and then the baby once he is born.
