My niece was just born a few weeks ago and her name is Isla. We had never heard the name before so we were very confused when trying to pronounce it when we initially saw the name in writing.

My husband became obsessed with it, so we compromised on it as a middle name lol. It's not a bad name, but looking at social security baby name trends, it's shot up there fast for some reason.

I really like the name Isla, and while it's becoming more popular I think it's a good thing because it might help people pronounce it correctly. :)
