Am I doing the right thing?

So my boyfriend and I moved to Utah with my family. I don't trust long distance relationships, so I asked him of he would move to Utah with me from Minnesota. And he's not happy and I see it all the time! So I told him if he goes back to Minnesota I'll make it septum because I love him a lot. This is really hard on me but I want the best for him and I'm not going to let what I want ruin my relationship. But he says he would be more depressed with me but I would like to stay back here for a little long a least another year start doing college apply to schools to work at in Minnesota and move back. (I nearly lost my dad in a rollover accident and almost died myself in Minnesota) so I've never really been happy or felt safe on Minnesota (way to damn cold too!)
