Birth story!
17 weeks past having my little girl but here is my birth story!!
On August 5 I lost my mucus plug at about 9 in the morning. It was brownish pink and just plain gross looking. Didn't feel anything after that and I just went about my day. No pain, I cleaned the house and made sure my birth center bag was put together. At around 10 that night, after my boyfriend left for work, I feeling some pretty good cramps. Thought nothing of it so I took my collie on his walk around our block and pushed through them. Got home and the cramps got worse, so I bounced on my ball and drank some water. The cramps became consistent and I started to time them. Nothing to bad. 15 minutes apart lasting 60 seconds. Texted my boyfriend and told him to let his boss know I was having contractions just in case I needed him. Decided to lay down and get some rest! Contracts went to every ten minutes so I slept through the breaks and woke up when I got one. Boyfriend got home around 630 and I was up bouncing on my ball powering through early labor! Texted my midwife at 730 and she confirmed that I was in early labor. She told me I could come in whenever that day and she would check me and baby. So we got ready and got to the birth center at around 11. Midwife checked me at I was at a 4!! She asked if I wanted to hang out in the tub and I told her no, I wanted to go home and labor there. So we went to Walmart to get some shopping done before heading home. Two hours later and I was having some pretty painful contractions! We decided to have a friend take our groceries home because we live 30 minutes away from the birth center and go back. She checked me again and I was at a 5! So we decided to stay and labor there. I could sit through any of the contractions so I was up pacing the floor, in and out of the tub, watching TV, eating oatmeal and just having a good time! Well I hit a 7 and my parents and mother in law got there! My mom and I hung out in the porch of the birth center while I was laboring. My midwife wanted me to do some things to get my water to break but I wasn't able to do them during contractions. They were coming at about 2 to 3 minutes now. So we decided to break my water! That was the worse hour of my life... The contractions were horrid... I was screaming! My boyfriend was so amazing during them! An hour later I needed to push. So I just laid on the floor and started pushing. Pushes there for about 15 minutes til I wanted to go in the bed. Mind you, my boyfriend is in between my legs waiting to catch the baby! So I got up on the bed and got on all fours and pushed for another 15 minutes. Decided I wanted to go on my back because I was exhausted. Pushed for another 15 minutes. At this point, my midwife told me to stop pushing. I guess my daughters heart slowed for a bit and she needed a break. Once it was back to normal, i was able to push again. My boyfriend did massages and held her head as she came out. The midwife showed him how to do everything. She was born! An hour of pushing and my baby was here! We did delayed cord clamping, no eye ointment and opted out of the hep and vit k shot. She was perfect! A unmedicated birth that went so perfect! She weighed 7 pounds and 9 oz and was 20 3/4 inches long. I did have a small tear but didn't need stitches. And I did start bleeding pretty bad but a shot of pitocin helped that! Best experience of my whole life! Born August 7th 1:45 am.
