Does anyone know what really prevents stretch marks ?

Nothing! It's genetics.   I got none with my first two and didn't use a single drop of cream/lotion/whatever.   Then I've heard others get tons.  I also haven't gotten any yet so far with number 3, but I'm only 12 weeks.

Good genes lol stretch marks are genetic. I'm sure lotions and things can help them to not be as bad maybe but they are genetic

If you want to get into the nitty gritty of skin composition vitamin c and other amino acids - proline, glycine etc - are used to form collagen, and zinc is used to hold the skin tightly together - so proper nutrition will help, but is not guaranteed.

I heard that using the coco butter lotion before you actually start getting them can help them go away faster. It really just depends on your body how bad you get them but if you do the best thing you can do is just take care of them

Genetics and not gaining excess weight will help not get as many. But you either get them or you don't. If your mom did, you probably will. There is no magic creams. Stay hydrated and don't scratch it can help but not prevent.

I've heard plenty of healthy fat & foods with collagen.   People swear by bone broth.

Nothing. Vitamin E can reduce scarring, in some cases but not all. Some people swear by cocoa butter. In the end, there's not much you can do, but that's ok. They seem scary at first because they're dark red and disturbing. The generally get smaller and fade.
