TTC after BC

I had my first child at 20 and had been on the seasonique pill prior. After I had her I got back on that pill until I decided to have my second child at 26. After my second child I went through a terrible divorce and decided to get on the depo shot which I fully regret now knowing what all it does to your body. I was on depo for a year and switched to the mirena for a couple of months but then I met my now husband and we decided to try for a baby together so I got off all birth control in July of 2020. It is now a year later and we have still had no luck. We track ovulation, I check cervical mucous, we regularly have sex multiple times a week and I just feel so sad that I’ve found the man of my dreams and I truly want this third and final child so badly and to get to experience what pregnancy and delivery should be like this time with having a man that will truly be there for me after having bad experiences the first two times. I’m just losing hope as I watch so many others in my life get pregnant so easily.. just needing some positivity or tips or suggestions please..

I’m new here so take this with a grain of salt but have you tried tracking basal body temperature? Ovulation tests will show if you have an LH surge which is required for the egg to be released but just because you have a surge does not necessarily mean you released an egg. Tracking BBT can actually confirm ovulation by showing an elevated temp after ovulation day. This could help you figure out if you are definitely ovulating or just having an LH surge. If you aren’t ovulating then you should follow up with your doctor to see if you can have further testing. There’s options to help fertility that don’t go as far as IVF or anything like that. Alternatively, you may also need to just take a break from tracking and all the stress that comes with it for a month. Still have sex as much as you can around mid cycle but just for enjoyment. Whatever you decide to do I wish you luck!!

For BBT you will want to get a thermometer made for it. They go to 2 decimal places rather than one. I got mine on Amazon for $15. Every day when you wake up, before you get out of bed or move around much you take your temp. You can track it here in the app. Ideally you will see a pattern where you temp is lower in the first part of your cycle and then spikes and stays elevated after ovulation. The sustained elevated temp confirms ovulation. There is a group here about BBT to learn more. About fertility treatments - I’m definitely not well versed in that but depending on what the problem is (if there is a problem) there’s a few options I’m aware of such as clomid (helps you ovulate) and progesterone (helps prepare your uterine lining to support implantation). I’m sure there other things too before you get to ivf and things like that. It wouldn’t hurt to get your partners sperm count checked too. Definitely don’t lose hope, this could still be after effects of getting off contraceptives and regardless there are still options to look into before IVF. I wish you luck and baby dust!!

No I haven’t tried that thank you for the suggestion! How does it work? We spent the last 2-3 months not tracking ovulation and trying to be less stressed about it. I just wanted to get some advice because I’m now at the point that my OB wants me to come in to discuss fertility options and of course my mind went straight to IVF. I didn’t know there were options before that honestly! Thank you!
