are you/did you get the tdap?

if no please explain why, i am hesitant on getting any vaccines while pregnant or breast feeding & also don’t plan on getting any vaccines for the baby until about 36/48 months. i would like others opinions on the tdap for myself while pregnant not your opinion on my baby getting vaccines after birth tyia

I do what my doctor recommends since they went to school for years to know whats best for mine and babys health. I didnt study this shit and regardless of articles i can find online thats not actually knowing and understanding my body and the drug and how it interacts within me and with the environment im in so i follow my medical professional since id rather not have a sick/dying child over a simple needle prick.

You’re not going to vaccinate at all until they are 3 years old?! I can see waiting for 6 months, but until they are 3? Most childhood vaccines are for things that are most dangerous for children 2 and under. Pertussis kills babies. Tetanus kills children. Measles kills children it can also leave them brain damaged or blind. Chickenpox stays in the body forever and can become shingles. 
I support vaccines being voluntary, absolutely it is your decision to make, I just hope everyone gets all the right information on the reasons why they are recommended to be given when they are and what these diseases can do if your child contracts them.

My midwife doesn’t care if I get the tdap. But got the Covid vaccine this pregnancy and I’ll be vaccinating baby girl according to pediatricians recommendation. Vaccines are NOT harmful, they are incredibly awesome and the world is a better place because of them.

I listen to what my doctors tell me to do. It’s as simple as that, I trust the vaccines. Lately there’s been a lot of spook with vaccines but they have always proven to be effective they just have also always proven to have a very small amount of backfires. However, I take the chance because I know that with the vaccine my baby will be just that much healthier ! 
It’s all a personal preference!

100000000% will be getting Tdap at my next visit. Recommended by my OB, our family practice provider and babies too little for pertussis right off the bat so my antibodies will help him/her

Please also listen to your Pediatrician who also went through specialized training to know what’s best for your baby. Their opinion/recommendation is THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS!!!

I work in a hospital and monitor pediatric patients as well as NICU and PICU babies so I see sick babies every single day. I listen to my doctor’s opinions and recommendations because she went to school and is credible and she’s a professional. I got my Tdap and so did my bf because why not? I would be damned if I allowed my baby to get sick especially from whooping cough which is EXTREMELY dangerous for her to contract because of a decision I made while I was pregnant. I will do anything and everything in my power to keep my baby safe, whether it’s a vaccine or whatever else.

I'm 32w currently and plan to get my tdap this week. I was going to get it around 28w (I think?) But because I was in the process of getting my covid vaccines (26w and 29w) I had to push it a few weeks 😊 I am generally very pro-vaccine, so that is where my opinion is coming from, but I think it would be a good idea to get your tdap while pregnant. It protects babe from whooping cough when they are first born (I'm sure you know this already), until they would be able to get it in the first few months of their life (though, you said you don't plan to vaccinate right away). I, personally, would be worried about the baby getting it from other kids at daycare or a family member/friend and ending up in the PICU. It would be best to consult your doctor about it to help you make a decision because they'd have more statistics and professional advice. Good luck with your decision making!

I understand that everyone is able to choose for their own, but why WOULDNT you want to arm your child with the best protection possible? I question those who say things like “vaccines cause seizures, etc” have they ever seen this in REAL LIFE for THEMSELVES?! It is a risk. But so is taking Advil, so is taking any medicine! If I can protect my kids and others in the world from disease why wouldn’t I? I got the TDAP and flu shot with my first. I also had her fully vaccinated on the proper schedule. She did not even catch a cold until 13 months and started daycare. I got my first Covid vaccine while 20w and my second dose at 24w it honestly makes me feel so guilty that my 19m old is the only one in our household not vaccinated against Covid. We do not see friends or family who have not been vaccinated because they could pass it along to her! I’m getting my TDAP for this babe on Friday and hopefully can get the flu shot before they arrive. Before Covid anyone who wanted to visit with my first needed to have up to date vaccinations. Not vaccinated your kids against preventable diseases is honestly in my opinion selfish - unless you plan on keeping them at home and away from all other children who can get those diseases too. I also would not let my child play with another child that I KNEW was not vaccinated But that’s just my opinion. I know there will be many that disagree - we’ve seen how selfish this world can be. It just baffles my mind that people try their best for their kids, worry about SIDS. RSV and sleeping habits but don’t do the things that can prevent infant death or illness significantly.
