Potty training

So our little man has been potty training for almost a month now. He goes in the potty great or outside we live in the country. He wears underwear all day, only diapers at night but most nights he is dry when he wakes. But our problem is we are stuck in the I tell/take him to the bathroom. He will go by himself if I tell him to and he can do it all by himself. But if I don’t ask him to go. He has an accident, he has only initiated it like twice. As long as I have him go about every 2 hrs fine no accidents all day
