For me I shaved before my first few times. Now I'm with someone who prefers me to have hair. 
Usually I shave on my lips and then let my mound above grow out a little. He like it a lot. Haha, I've also never been with a guy who complained about hair. Most guys I've been with are older and are turned off when it's all shaved off. But it's different for everyone. 
Experiment with it and find what you feel best with.

I'd say just make it tidy unless you're interested in completely shaving it. You do feel more with it shaved but it gets itchy when it grows back, and if you don't get it completely smooth, it can hurt when rubbing during sex.

Honestly it's completely up to you. My first time I had shaved, but it was because I couldn't stand having all that hair down there it didn't have anything to do with the guy. I am now married and for fun I shave the first initial of his first name into it. But it's all about you.
