"Testing out the trigger" ???

Question

I keep hearing this term.. and I don't think I understand. I took my trigger shot yesterday, and we inceminated today. So, my question is if I wait for 2 weeks to test, and if I get a bfp, it's possible that it's from the shot?

I dont understand what the trigger has to do with getting a positive test...My doctor didn't explain any of this to me...

The shot has HCG so if you take a test before 2 weeks, you could get a false positive. When people say "testing out the trigger" it means they are taking pregnancy tests before the 2 weeks are up to see if the shot is still in their system. I "tested out the trigger" and 9 dpiui I got a faint positive and I thought I was pregnant. The next day I took a test and it was completely negative. I didn't get a true positive until 12 dpiui (1 day late on period) and since I tested out the trigger, I knew it was a true positive. Hope this helps!
