After an eventful morning I passed my glucose test!

Marian Riki

So no matter what I do, my body DOES NOT like needles (my ears aren't even pierced 😂). Anytime I need to have blood drawn or I need to get a shot I get dizzy, clammy, hot flashes, nauseous, and may even end up vomiting or passing out. SO I've been dreading this test the most (because obvs can't have breakfast the morning of and normally one of the things that helps me not be as much as a baby is I make sure I've had a meal and am adequately hydrated).

Get to the lab. Sign in. Get called back at the 1 hr mark from finishing my drink (side note if you haven't had it yet: orange one isn't bad, just tastes like a flat fanta orange) and let the nurse know I'll probably need to be laid back because I have a tendency to pass out. Their leaning chair is broken 😱 They offer to take me down the hall to the peds lab so they can lay me back but me, not wanting to be a pain in the ass, decides to be a hero and say "we'll try it without laying down!"

Get stuck and immediately start feeling dizzy and the room spinning 😅 close my eyes to see if it'll help and next thing I know I'm being awoken with the ammonia ampule 😂😂 nurse said she's never seen anyone go down as fast as I did. Also they'd only managed one of the four tubes of blood they needed from me today so I still had to be walked down the ped lab and stuck again (this time laying flat. This time without event 🤣🤣🤣🤣)

Moral of the story: Don't be a hero. Let your nursing staff know you're the extra patient 😱
