Maternity leave or 2 weeks notice?

I'm currently working part time retail and I live my job but I'm not sure if I'd like to return directly after my 12 weeks of maternity leave since my husband will be deployed soon after the birth. He will be gone for months and I know I'll have a lot on my plate without my husbands help. Should I put in a request for maternity leave or my 2 weeks notice? Or should I request maternity leave and if I decide not to come back, put in my 2 weeks?

I wouldn't say anything to your manager. I would do your maternity leave and decide after that if you want to quit or go back. With your husband deployed though I would wager you'll want to and will love having the opportunity to stay home with the little one. My husband deployed when my daughter was 3 months old. I'm glad i stayed home. You'll never get that time back with your baby and there is just way too much to do when it's just you. Good luck, you got this!!!

I'm doing the same, maternity leave first then when it's done 2weeks notice. I'm not coming back on my other job anymore but in order to keep the benefits and be quialified for edd I can't quit yet. I assume you live in US too since you're also just getting 12weeks . You can also use you're family leave to extend

Don't put in your 2 weeks notice. Stay on in case you want to go back after and so you can maintain any benefits

I'd talk to your manager and tell them your dilemma. Tell them you aren't sure how long you will be gone but you'd love to come back in the future and I'm sure they would rehire you.
