Don't be afraid to seek different doctor opinions
My son had EXTREME diarrhea from 2 weeks old until 2 months old. He would poop every 5 minutes. This caused horrible diaper rash that caused his butt to bleed constantly for about 7 weeks.
He went to 3 different doctors, and visited a GI specialist twice. Everyone said the same thing, that he must be allergic to something I'm eating (he is breastfed). I cut out many things from my diet, and I was only eating plain rice, a few select veggies, and water. Nothing was helping. They told me to switch him to a special formula, but he would rather not eat at all than take the formula.
I was feeling really bad for him, and I was having severe mom guilt. But then, I decided to try a different doctor one more time. The new doctor suggested that he had a minor large intestinal issue, and suggested baby cereal to help stop the diarrhea.
The same day I introduced my 2 month old to cereal, I saw immediate results. Now, he is breastfed and eats a little baby cereal and only poops 5 times a day. He's all better, and his butt is all cleared up expect for the scaring left behind from the extreme diaper rash.
This has taught me to never be afraid to get a second, third, fourth, etc... medical opinion if you feel in your mom gut that its necessary (but also I don't recommend trying baby cereal this early unless explicitly recommended by a medical professional). Now he's happy, healthy, and chonky 😝.
