Does period matter when it comes to pregnancy dating

I’m trying to date my pregnancy from lmp instead of ultrasound and the ultrasound is showing I’m further along then I thought I only just realised I have a 31 day cycle and I’ve been basing everything of a 28 day cycle this whole time this pregnancy is just confusing me

My ultrasound was ahead 4days but they chose to use my lmp as my due date even though I told them I have short cycles. But this is all just an estimate anyway. None of my kids came at 40w so I wasnt going crazy trying to figure out exactly when I conceived.  Its just a round about.

Usually you go by your last period unless the ultrasound is off by more than 5-7 days I believe. The doctor will choose which one to go by. My ultrasounds I was off by 5-6 days but they still went based off my LMP because it was less than a week.

You typically go from the first day of your LMP unless the dating ultrasound is off by more than a week in which case you go by the ultrasound. But your cycle lengths prior to pregnancy don’t have any relation to the dating of your pregnancy.

You go by what the ultrasound says. Or whatever dr chooses to go by. Whatever due date they give you.
