Flat head

My baby hates laying on my chest, won’t nap on his side, nothing. I bought a “flat head pillow” but I don’t think it’s helping. Does his head look flat to you guys? Any suggestions on how to keep him off his back for during the day when I can supervise at least? My first always just went on my chest no problem. I really don’t want my kiddo having a flat back

My baby’s head started to get a little flat. I rolled up receiving blankets to put on each side of him at night when he sleeps, and I turn his head and tuck it up against his back so he can’t roll. I know I have safe sleep Karen’s screaming right now, but he’s not rolling over, and it works. He also spits up a lot so it helps him not to aspirate it.

I’m going to have to try this. I’m not a Karen as long as it’s secure I’m down to try haha

My oldest who’s now 10 had to wear a helmet for playgiocephaly. (The flat head) I think she looked so adorable in it. It looks like you also may need one. Just bring it up at your babes 4 month checkup they will lead you in the right direction ❤️

It’s normal for now. Don’t worry mama. It’ll round out!

My son prefers turning his head to his right and is getting flat on that side of his head. I just had a physical therapy appointment as recommended by my pediatrician to learn ways to encourage him to stretch his neck the other way. Maybe something like this could help you? Learning ways to help them stretch and use those muscles and how to interact with them to encourage full use of their neck.

Definitely ask your pediatrician, but I’d guess he needs a helmet. Personally I find them adorable.

Most definitely don’t need a helmet as long as when he’s sleep lay him on sides and keep switching sides . Their heads can most definitely round out till about 1 & 2 years old !

I would ask his pediatrician. My son had head issues and we had to see a specialist for a helmet

It's not just about being on your chest. He needs tummy time on the floor during the day. Pretty much any time he is awake, play time needs to be on his stomach. Babies generally do not like it but their strength builds up over time. The head generally will not round out once it is at this point so if it bothers bothers, you will need to get a consult for a helmet. (We dealt with the same with my first born due to torticollis and did physical therapy and a helmet consult)

No matter how long I wait to do tummy time he spits up a lotttttt and then he’s uncomfortable for so long afterwards it’s not worth it to me 😢 I’m going to have to try the propping with blankets

Mine also spits up if it’s too close to when she ate. I try and do tummy time after she has been awake about an hour after her feeding. There is still spit up but much less and she doesn’t seem to be in pain! We also have her sleep on her side propped up with blankets and just make sure to rotate her every so often.

He has severe reflux and throws up any time he does tummy time so not an option
