Should I give a bottle?

Hi everyone, my son is 8 weeks and has only been on the breast. I haven’t given him a bottle yet because I haven’t been in a situation where I am away from him. We have been successful with breast feeding but I’m wondering if I should introduce a bottle in case of an emergency? How often? How many oz for 8-9 week old? Thank you!

It doesn't hurt to try! My son at 8 weeks took about 4 oz, but it varies for each child. You could start with 3, then if he still seems hungry add another ounce or two.

A recommendation i read somewhere said that if you wanted your baby to be able to take a bottle for when you want some time away but still want to breast feed try giving a bottle a couple times a week, or even once a day. Also helps if someone else gives the bottles for awhile so baby doesn't reject it in favor of your breast they can smell. Great time for daddy or grandparents, or even older siblings to bond with baby!
