Transitioning beds?

Has anyone thought about transitioning to a toddler bed soon? Only thinking about it because the new baby is coming in 2 months, and it would be nice not to have to buy another crib. I know they say 18 months is the earliest but really 2-3 years old is best. I just don’t want to spend the money on something that will only last a short while longer. Any success stories and how you did it? Thanks!

Yes my son has been practicing sleeping in his toddler bed for the past two months in my room. Hes been doing well but still wakes up once at night and Ive just been lazy to put him back in his bed so hell end up co sleeping with me. I give birth in October and am hoping to have him full time in his toddler bed by then.

My little one starts off in the room with his brother and sleeps most of the night there. They have a bunkbed but my oldest doesn't want to sleep on the top bunk and the little one is crazy and we don't want him jumping off so the top bunk mattress is on the floor. My oldest started sleeping in his toddler bed (sidecar cosleeper modified idea bed that turns into a toddler bed) unattached to our bed when he was 18 months and he did fine. Just try to stick with whatever routine you have now and start off as you want to continue. If they get out just walk them right back and say goodnight. They get it eventually.

Wow. Here I was considering the same thing. But I am going with getting a 2nd crib. My 21 month old isn’t ready for the toddler bed. He shares a room with his big bro who is 4 and I can see them now. Both up playing all night. No thanx. Mama needs some sleep too. The crib is baby jail. Sorry. Lol. Well at least til
He finds a way to climb out then it’s deff toddler bed time. I’ll buy new baby girl a crib when she out grows the bassinet.

Meh. Some people do floor beds from birth. Anytime can work, if that’s what works for your family. We will be moving to a toddler bed when we move next month. I’ve moved all my kids (this is kid 3) between 12 and 18m and it’s been fine. It’s an adjustment of cause but it was fine after a few weeks.

My 2nd baby is due Oct 1st. The toddler bed wouldn’t work for my 17/18 month old. He is way tooooo active. He would definitely run around his room and climb on all the furniture and leave the room and run around the house unless we lock it. At this point he’s not ready

We went to the thrift store to look for a baby gate...great place to buy super cheap baby gates...and we also found a brand new nice crib that had all the parts and also transforms into a toddler bed for $30!!!! We are having our second baby in April so we couldn't pass the offer and got the crib!!  Good luck.

My daughter is in a toddler bed. The worst issue we have is she likes to crawl out of bed and get in her rocking chair with a book until she gets really tired. The first couple nights were hard but now it's no different then the crib

I’m giving birth at the beginning of December so we got my 17 month old daughter a trundle bed so it has a twin size bed practically on the floor (because we didn’t want two cribs). We are planning on transitioning her in November to get used to her new room before the baby comes. The Pediatrician recommend doing this a month before so she doesn’t think that she’s being displaced because of her new brother. We also have a rail put up on one of the sides.

Baby is due in two weeks and have a bed ordered hoping we can transition while new baby is still in our room, we didn’t want to buy another crib either
