Did your Ob discuss labor/delivery with you at your prenatal appointments?

I’m 33 weeks and have yet to have any discussion with my provider about actually giving birth. Of course it could mean they’ll bring it up closer to delivery but I find it odd.

Just to be clear, I know exactly what I want and hired a doula. It was just a question. I’m simply looking to see how many women go through a pregnancy without the discussion of labor.
But no they haven’t brought up birthing classes. In fact the one has asked me if I know what I’m having each time I see him. I’m not saying they aren’t good providers but clearly I’m just a number. I can only imagine what some go through if they don’t know what to ask

A lot of hospitals have “classes” for new moms. I went to one around 34-36ish weeks at mine, and they walked through everything from when you start feeling contractions, if your water breaks, etc. through labor, delivery, the move to their mom and baby unit and the tests they’ll do before they send baby home. They also gave a tour and showed where to park when you get there, how to get to OB Triage, showed us labor rooms and the mom and baby rooms for after delivery. Made me feel so much more prepared as a first time mom. I would check and see if yours may offer something similar!

I brought it up at all my appointments, but it’s because I’ve always beat him to it. But especially this time, I have a lot of worries about my due date and birthing at a different hospital. So I decided to talk to him about it

My doctor already mentioned to me at my last appointment that we’ll be discussing it at my next appointment which I’ll be 34 weeks at!

I talked about it with my midwife at our first appointment at 9 weeks.

That’s what the birthing classes are for. It really is too much information to go over at a regular OB appointment (unless there is some special high risk situation and you have to be a planned section or something). Did they not suggest birthing classes to you?

I’m friends with my OB so she already knew everything and any plan I had.  But I have no plan haha. So it’s easy.

I discussed some of this with my OB at 29w. I'm 32w friday and already filled out my hospitals birthing plan sheet.
