Should I make my sister a godmother instead of my best friend?

I don’t really get along with my sister but she expects to be godmother to my baby. I want my best friend of 25 years who has been more of a sister to me than my actual sister and who has been there for me through my darkest and hardest times. I am feeling pressure from family to make my sister the godmother even though she isn’t religious and I feel she just wants the title because she isn’t anyone’s godparent. Not sure what to do.

Well the point of being a godmother is to help influence your child in their religious and cultural views, so u need to choose someone who u trust would help guide her in the right direction if something were to happen to you.

My mil pressured me to make my husband's oldest brother's wife the God mother for my last 2 children.  But I can't stand her so I made people I actually like their God parents.
My husband's other brother just recently got married and I actually like her.
I told my husband, we should make her the new baby's God mother. Not just because it would make my MIL happy, but because it would piss my other sister in law off 🤣🤣🤣

She’s already an aunt, she can make or break that however she will but it sounds like you already know you want your friend, hopefully others would have some advice on how to address that with your sister.

I picked the person i want to raise my daughters if god forbid my husband and i both died. We picked his sister and we had a brother n my teo sisters who did not get picked. My parents were pissed i didnt pick my sister but i dont care!  This isnt a choice for anyone but the actual parents!  We picked someone we knew was stable. Someone our daughter loved and completely comfortable with. And someone we knew would make an effort to not only attend their side of the families parties and get togethers but would also go to all my families side things!  At the end of the day think about it like this…your in the hospital about to die and you think of your child being left with your best friend….r u happy and content that your child is safe?  Then youve made the right choice

I don’t get along with my sister and she isint the god mother of any of my kids . A god mother is someone who will be there for that child no matter what . It’s not based on brother sister cousin so idk why she feels in titled

No! We made a rule no family as godmother/father as they already have titles of uncle and aunties!! Stick to your guns!
