I think showing appreciation for everything mom went through to bring baby into the world should be expected, but it doesn’t need to be in the form of a gift.  Just saying “you did amazing, I’m proud of you!” is enough and I don’t think enough men do that

I think if it isn’t asked for or expected it’s fine. I think when a women asks for and expects a big over the top gift to show off she isn’t ready to be a mother.

I don’t think it’s necessary at all. I was telling my ex husband I can’t wait to get another tattoo after baby gets here, and he said “how about you pick out what you want and I’ll pay for it. For all your hard work growing our human”… I’ll definitely take it lol.

I honestly never heard of it until recently, and I find it kind of ridiculous and materialistic. It’s one thing if your SO just wanted to get you something like flowers or your favorite food, but to expect things is a whole other thing. Especially if it’s expensive gifts. The baby should be your damn push present lol.

I think it’s totally fine. I think there’s a big misconception that it’s always big expensive gifts. But a $30 baby’s initial necklace from Etsy? I think it’s just something small your husband can give to show appreciation for the 9 months your body went through carrying your child.

I never brought up the idea or really even thought about it. But my husband has been planning something and is so excited to give it to me after the birth. I think it’s a nice gesture and as long as it’s not forced, it’s alright. 
After this pregnancy has been so rough I’m grateful to have a husband that wants to show his appreciation to bringing our child into this world ❤️

I told my husband I want something small with he baby's name on it. Like one of those box necklaces we can keep adding on to... and eventually a nice massage. I have friends who have gotten purses worth thousands and diamond eternity bads.
