Would you buy breastmilk for Your baby?

If you could buy breast milk for your baby would you? Also how much would you pay an ounce and what would be some reasons why you wouldn’t buy someone else’s breastmilk?

No. I’d rather buy formula than breastmilk from a stranger, lots of things can be transferred via breastmilk and I wouldn’t take that risk. If anyone needs breastmilk that badly they can look for actual donor places that make sure the breastmilk is safe to consume.

I’d only do it through a reputable milk bank. Not someone off the street trying to make a few bucks. 
There’s so many factors to consider. Diet, health, etc. just like at the hospital… donors have to meet special requirements

The only time I’ve ever considered this was when the pandemic first hit and I couldn’t find formula at the stores . But I wasint going to pay for it my sister was still breastfeeding and pumped and stored milk for me until I could find formula . 
But ….. I do know allot of nicu baby’s need breast milk and some times the mom cannot produce … my personal opinion i wouldn’t sell my milk but would donate it to baby’s who actually need these vitamins

We used donor milk while in the hospital. Insurance was covering the cost and it had been screened and tested by the hospital first. After we were discharged, they gave us the info to purchase it through them, but there was no way we could afford it. It was way more expensive than formula. I’d never buy breastmilk from random people and would even hesitate to use some from a close friend.

I couldnt breast feed my baby after three weeks and my sister pumped for him for three months. I would never get it from a stranger or a breast milk bank.

Do you mean like u personally posting online hey i got some breastmilk wanna buy it? Or like the companies that take your unused breast milk for nicu babies and such? Because that milk is highly tested!  You can pass so many things through milk i would never use another woman’s breast milk. Also i like formula and dont like breastfeeding so if i felt like i needed to be giving breastmilk id just do it myself.

No. I donated mine and know of many reputable places that donate- I would not purchase, I also would not sell something that I could freely give to another mother/parent/baby in need.

I am a breast milk donor. I would never consider charging people for milk. I also am completely transparent with caffeine, medications, health, diet, etc. :)
