Membrane Sweep… Advice?

My doctor told me to help prepare for my induction he is considering doing a membrane sweep. I have not done this with either of my past pregnancies. Doesn’t sound difficult, or bad just a little uncomfortable. Advice?

I had mine done. It wasn’t super painful just uncomfortable, like a lot of pressure. I lost my mucus plug/bloody show that morning had the sweep done at 1:30pm and was having contractions as soon as I left the office. I was already 3cm dilated when it was done. Had baby girl that night

It’s a lot of pressure, I am so sensitive to cervix checks so I would say it was painful but not unbearable. It was quick, 10 seconds or so. I got it done yesterday 11 am and I lost my mucus plug and had my bloody show but nothing since that.

I had it done with my first. I had it done around 2pm on a Monday and had her Wednesday afternoon. I was super crampy all night Monday and all day Tuesday. I lost my mucous plug Tuesday night and my water broke at 3am Wednesday morning. It is uncomfortable but not terrible. It was worth it to me to try vs being induced

It's my first and I'm being induced next week, I've have two so far and had some cramps afterwards like period pains but sadly not progressed to anything else but I think it's worth a try as if nothing else I'll be in a slightly better place for the induction

Mine was very very painful, but quick. 5 seconds max. I cramped after it for a few hours but nothing unbearable. Was in labour that night.

It hurt pretty bad to me and did absolutely nothing for me. I opted out this time

They have to put their fingers inside your cervix to try to remove the membranes (sac) from the inside of your uterus. They can only do so if you’re already dilated - so making progress. It can cause infection and risk of premature rupture of your waters. It can be v uncomfortable but others find it fine
