Imperfect foods is it a scam? Or is it worth it?

Imperfect foods is a new way to buy groceries by selling imperfect foods from grocery stores. Imperfect food could mean squished or torn packaging, food getting to close to expiration dates so they are pulled from the shelves and even overstock foods. It’s a weekly subscription that you pick your foods minimum of $45 purchase a week. They advertise as being great for the environment and stopping food waste and claims you get food at discounted prices.

After some research I found that the foods were about the same cost or sometimes even higher then just going to the grocery store. Also I found out that these foods would usually go to food banks to give out to people in need. So this does take away from people in need. Do you think this service is great or a scam?
