Any easier way to clean out this fire pit used by previous owners?
So we bought a house, which has a fire pit (about 5 feet in diameter) in the backyard. Problem is, for some reason the previous owner thought it was a good idea to throw glass bottles, coat hangers, 4-6 inch long rusty nails and screws, and aluminium cans in it. I have a dog and 3 kids under 5. Now, I don't let my kids go anywhere near it as of now, but my great dane keeps getting in it and digging around which means he can't go out in the backyard by himself because tbh though I love him, he is the dumbest dog in the world. He regularly tries to eat rocks and would eat some of the glass and nails.
So I've been shoveling it into trash bags but I can't even fill the bags half way before they're at risk of bursting. So I'm filling less than half a bag and having to haul it to the bin. So takes a lot of time and wastes a lot of bags. I'm dealing with some medical issues right now that are making my brain a bit foggy so I am hoping in my fog I have looked over a massively easier, less time consuming way to do this?
The pit, for reference:
Inside of pit is dug deeper than it looks. And the ashes are not fresh/light/soft ashes. This seems like years worth of garbage and ashes.
