Home birth still hurts. It was easier to deal with the pain in the water tho. I preferred the shower over the tub. First birth wasn't great. I asked my midwife why someone would ever do that again! 🤣 #2 and #3 were so much easier.
So if you're not a FTM it might not be so bad for you in the water.

I had a medicated and I was still screaming in pain for 2 1/2 hours while pushing. My daughter pushing was a relief. all births are so different. Birth just hurts.

I was induced but once they stopped the pitocin and before my epidural I was allowed to labor in the tub. I didn't last even 5 mins in there. Totally made the pain worse. In fact that was the final "okay get me the epidural" moment for me. I thought the tub would help because my period cramps are so bad they leave me sweating, shaking, and vomiting. The tub has always helped with period cramps. Nope. Made labor 10 times more painful for me. It was not for me.

Any unmedicated birth, home birth or hospital or birthing center, is not painless. It’s a lot. You feel every single contraction and you feel everything in your vagina during pushing. 
I had my first baby at a birth center, unmedicated. It was very very intense but I’ll be doing it again!

My epidural failed during my first birth and it was the worst pain I’ve ever felt. So with my second I planned to do med free because I survived the first. Being prepared fully helped me and I chose mrs free for 3 and 4 as well. Yes it still hurts like hell but it’s a different pain when you’re choosing it and have been trained how to breathe through and how to view how to get through it. I’ll be going med free again for this fifth one as well. I know it’ll hurt but the best part is being able to get up right away after since you aren’t stuck in bed, healing is so much faster too!! And there’s been studies that show your milk comes in faster due to no medications in your body. I’d have to look and see if those are true.

It still hurts in the water but I found the water to be very relaxing and I have learned that relaxing is key. I had 2 homebirths and 2 very different experiences. The pain wasn't unbearable and when it gets most intense baby is almost there. I took hypnobirthing classes to prepare. It really helped me.

Not true but the water does tremendous help! Well it did for me anyways.
