Does your doctor advise you to eat or not eat before labor/c-section!

I’m having a scheduled c section on Wednesday and my doctor doesn’t want me eating or drinking anything 12 hours prior. Like shit I just want a cup of coffee lol 😂 how I’m going to make it idk! Like I know he doesn’t want me to get sick but still 😅

Don't eat. Chances of choking are high during surgery.

Here they encourage you to eat throughout labor if you can manage, they would rather want you to have the energy to manage labor than running on fumes. Even when my water broke 20 hours prior and thing slowed somewhat down I was offered dinner.

The more I read about this topic, it seems that being allowed to eat before and during labor is likely safe and that women benefit from drinking and energy (calorie) consumption (if they want to of course).

4years ago when I went in for my c-section, I arrived extremely early(like 4am), the staff didn't know and gave me breakfast, my doctor arrived 11am-ish and confirmed that I'd be done at 2pm to let the breakfast digest properly.
Apparently you're not supposed to eat anything before the "op".

As someone that threw up with their c section I wouldn't risk it. I hadn't even eaten anything I just threw up water and bile but being on your back I can only imagine how much worse it would be if I had.

With one of my planned csections I threw up during the entire surgery, just bile as I hadn’t eaten. That was no fun, stomach muscles numb and having to throw up while laying down. If you did eat what they did with me when I had to have an emergency csection was give me a liquid medicine that immediately made me vomit. That was also awful.

I ate before and during labor with both my girls but I don't think you should before C-section. 2 diff scenarios

My c-section was at 9 AM and I was told nothing to eat or drink after midnight.
