Base housing ?

Hello we are PCSing next month to Alaska . We currently live on base in Utah and we’re worried about the costs housing is going to charge us. 
Does anyone have any info or how we can go about not paying so much. We are already stressing with how much money we are going to have to spend moving to Alaska.

Sounds to me like your husband needs to actually look at the resources you guys have for moving. You can do a partial move or full move on your own and get reimbursed or have them move you fully and you don't pay for it. You can also look up your housing allowance by state and rank on Google.

What kind of costs are we talking here? Housing from Utah (HAFB?) will charge you for any damage and cleaning fees. If you're worried, just do the best you can to clean the house top to bottom, and fix any damages like broken blinds, stains, etc.

What kind of costs are you talking about? Like cleaning after you move out, or actually rent when you get to Alaska? If you plan on living on base housing in Alaska you shouldn't be charged anything, they should just take your husband's bah as "rent" payment. As for cleaning costs and such after moving out, your husband should be given the option for advanced DLA which is payment for stuff like that. The military DOES help pay for you to move!! There is a lot of paperwork that needs filled out (your spouse will have to do it). But you guys should be getting adequate funds to help with the move. I suggest he speak with a sponsor, financial counselor and HHG coordinator. Good luck!!
