Has anyone taken metronidazole while breastfeeding?

There’s conflicting information online. My doctor hasn’t confirmed the swab results but I know I have BV and just waiting for her to call. I’m 4 weeks PP and exclusively BF. What are my options to treat the infection?

Metronidazole is a very commonly used antibiotic for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers here in the UK.
We commonly give it with Cephalexine, and it is abbreviated to "Ceph & Met".
However, all antibiotics carry warnings with regard to use in pregnancy and breastfeeding, no matter how long they have been around. Especially what we call "Broad Spectrum Antibiotics", as the high usage of broad spectrum antibiotics leads to antibiotic resistance, so exposing your child to antibiotics without it being absolutely necessary always carries a risk.
However, if your Doctor truly sees a need, then antibiotics are far better than the risks that come with an untreated infection.
