Doppler pros and cons?

I've been really curious about getting a Doppler but I wanted to know what some of y'all think the pros and cons are

Con, some women have reduced movements or bleeding or pain, Listen to baby's heart rate, find one and not get seen. Just because baby's heart is still beating at that moment, doesn't mean there isn't a problem and home reassurance using a doppler can lead to baby passing away through undiagnosed issues.

Con- A lot of people don’t know how to use dopplers correctly. They’ll end up picking up their own heart rate, think it’s baby’s and then freak out because baby’s heart rate is super low when in fact that’s not the baby’s heart rate at all.

The con is definitely that people aren’t trained to use them.

I've actually recently heard that dopplers are different than ultrasounds in the way that the waves can actually damage the soft tissue in baby. I'm not 100% sure how accurate this is, but it was in a group of Doulas I'm in

Along with those cons the other women posted, there are pros. I taught myself how to pick up baby's heartbeat and confirmed with my doctor. I got so good at it that he joked i was better at it than him lol. Having the doppler settled a lot of anxiety within me and I found myself only using it once a day! I think it can be a great tool if you don't over use it and if you take the time to learn about the device, how it works, where baby lays etc.

I called my doctor to schedule an appointment to go in and just check on baby because I was feeling nervous. She told me to get an at home one because they are perfectly safe, and once you find baby, can provide you with peace of mind. My first pregnancy ended in a MMC, so the Doppler is worth its weight in gold for me. And listening to our rainbow baby’s heartbeat is the best!!
