My baby girl has been having trouble falling asleep for the second nap for the last few days. I put her down with her normal routine, but instead of falling asleep she is laying down in her sleep position and making her sleepy groans/humming noises that she does. I've been letting her stay in the crib for about 45 minutes to an hour to at least rest and avoid stimulation. I usually end up getting her up after that once the sleepy groans change to frustrated grunts.

She definitely seems like she WANTS to sleep but can't.

If she does want to sleep, I've tried putting her down for nap both sooner and later than normal and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I know there is a pretty wide age range for when babies drop the second nap (she's turning one in less than a week).

Are they usually miserable and outright refuse it, or is what I'm experiencing the type of behavior I should expect?
