FMLA question

Afternoon all, I wanted to ask a question to the group or see if anyone has had a similar experience. This morning I’ve had some positive pregnancy tests which is great for my husband and I. There’s one possible issue though:

1. We live in CA

2. I start a new job Wednesday. When I found out I was changing jobs we starting backing off on trying to have a baby because of what we think the FMLA qualifications are. It’s our understanding that you need to be employed by the same employer for 12 months to have your job protected by FMLA when it’s time for the baby to come

My question is this, should I end up giving birth after being with this new company for approx 9 months is there any state law that will protect my employment and position?
