His parents called me fat

Back story-

My bf and I use to be together YEARS ago, when we were younger. The mom never supported us because she didn’t like that I have a kid from a previous relationship, tattoos, piercings. We always had issues because she’d make me feel uncomfortable, call me other girls names and laugh to get me mad.

It’s been 3 years we’re 27 now and I just saw his parents for the first time in about 3 years..

The first thing the dad says when he sees me is “wow, look at you. You put on more weight wow” I was so shocked and just smiled

The mom adds

“Wow it’s been years you were beautiful before, we’ll you still are now just…. Chunkier”

I felt so uncomfortable, so embarrassed.

My bf knows I’ve been insecure so I couldn’t believe this we walked out and he was pissed and apologizing. I don’t even want to be around them anymore, his sister thinks I’m overreacting.

What are your thoughts?

I thought that was completely rude.

I was asking them how have they been/ the family

And they were more concerned how I put on weight

Edit- I should add, when we started talking again he said his mom had apologized for everything and regrets how she treated me
