How much did you put down for a house? And how much was the house?
And how is your credit score?
So my mom always says I can't and shouldn't buy a house unless I put 20% down. Ok great...  
But who actually does that? Just want to take a poll
I really want to buy a house and most houses here are 530000$ on average but.. it would be so hard for us to save like 80-100k....

To start, you have to get pre-approved to know what your allowed to purchase. Even if home are in the 500,000 range it’s possible to only get approved for 350,000 range. Get pre-approved before you start looking. It costs nothing and you will get a step by step in person consult of how it will all work financially. 
They’re are many first time homebuyer loans that you can use, so you’ll only have to put 3.5 % down instead of 20%. However, if you don’t put the 20% there will be extra costs that will be put on top of your monthly mortgage. 
For example; my mortgage is about 1200 but, because I didn’t put 20% down they make you pay for extra insurances and things so my “mortgage” in total with that is 1800 monthly. 
There are other costs that you will have to pay up front too, earnest money, closing costs, inspection money and maybe one or two more things during the closing period. Which those can be pretty expensive.. 
it’s best to just go to your local bank and talk to someone about what your can get pre-approved for and the other steps.

We put nothing down. Our credit scores back then we're in the 640s. We qualified for a first time homeowners loan and it allowed us to buy a 5 bed/3 bath house for 181k. We took out a 2nd mortgage to pay closing costs. That was just over 5k I believe. In total both mortgages came out to 1030/month.

We didn't make a down-payment. We didn't have a lot of free money before my husband got his current job (which was out of state), but since his now job paid triple what he was making we decided we'd rather buy a house than rent so we were able to get one for $250k in a nice and growing neighborhood. He's VA loan made it to where we didn't need a down-payment and I think first time home buyer loans require less than 10% down-payment. But having a 20% down-payment will make buying a home easier and your monthly mortgage will be cheaper
