I am only 26 weeks pregnant. I am considering asking to be written off work until maternity leave. I am a preschool teacher and several children in my classroom have behavioral issues. Yesterday I was kicked in the stomach by a student causing me to spend the morning today getting checked in the hospital. My center is extremely short staffed and I am spending a lot of my time at work in the bathroom getting sick and have no one to cover if I need to call off. My doctor just prescribed me anxiety medicine to go on top of my anti-depressants saying it's probably stress from work causing me to be so sick. I don't know what to do. Should I ask to be written off work? There's not really any way to scale back my hours (my employer doesn't do part time) or adjust the kind of work I have to do.
