How long after changing your diet did your blood sugar levels come down?

I recently found out I have gestational diabetes and have been monitoring it since yesterday, I check my blood sugar 4 times a day and I notice my fasting is ok but after breakfast it tends to spike and drops back down after dinner. I’ve completely changed my diet starting around lunch yesterday. If  I’m doing it correctly when will I see a difference? Will it be immediate or take a few days?

I think it really varies by person. What you eat (and when) before bed will affect your first check of the day. Same with whatever you eat for breakfast. Some foods will be fine for you and not for others. My high risk dr and dietician both told me I could eat tacos and quesadillas, but I found that they spiked my numbers (even though I prepared them the way I was told.) so, I quit eating them and found something different.
What helped me with my after breakfast numbers was what and when I ate, I ate around 8-8:30am and had scrambled eggs with plain toast.
