My youngest transitioned off formula by 11.5 months old. And before everyone jumps down my throat, she was eating 3 meals a day plus snacks and ate more at each meal than her 3 year old brother, so she was fine. I offered milk in a straw cup at meals from 10 months onward so she was familiar with it. We slowly cut back on her formula bottles and when the formula was gone she only got milk. When we ran out of formula the bottles also stopped and she only got a straw or sippy cup.

No. You don't want to be one of those moms that are like, "help! My 18 month old still needs a bottle of formula at bedtime!"
I start weaning (breastfeeding) at 10 months. Very slowly. By 1, my kiddos nurse twice a day. Then I let them decide from there within reason.

If your baby is getting the adequate nutrition from solids, you could wean anytime.

Our Dr said off formula and bottles by 12 months. So I don't think you're too early at all!
