Do you really watch your skincare products when pregnant?

Have a facial moisturizer with retinol in it and had read somewhere not to use this?

I don't change anything in my skincare when I'm pregnant. I read the studies on retinol in pregnancy for myself and discovered that it's only the oral version of retinol, which is much stronger, that's been studied and shown to have an increased risk. The topical version hasn't been studied, but they recommend against it out of an abundance of caution. Some studies even write something to the effect of: nothing indicates topical use would be a problem, but pregnant women should still avoid it. All this to say, I encourage you to do your own research and risk benefit analysis.

Don’t use retinol or salicylic acid. That was the advice from my midwife, OB, and esthetician.
