Thursday, November 25th, 2021 at 40w1d! The week before at 39+1 I had my membranes stripped, which did nothing, and then on the 24th at 40 weeks I had my membranes stripped again I was 3-4cm. In case that didn’t work I was scheduled to come in for another sweep today, the 30th, at 40+6 and of course if that didn’t work I had a scheduled induction for December 2nd at 41+1!

Well I assume my stretch and sweep worked.. I got that done around 11am and by 11pm I was having consistent but not painful Braxton hicks.. so I thought! I went to bed and was woken up around 4:20am to the same thing, but this time they were a little strong so I timed them, and they were every 3-5 minutes apart lasting about 1.5 minutes each. About an hour went by and they did grow a little stronger but not by much, then all of a sudden sitting in bed my water broke around 5:30am, only one bag of my waters though. There was blood present (never fully lost my mucus plug this whole pregnancy though) so I called the hospital and spoke to the midwife on call and she said to make our way in. I still had to pack my 5 year old a bag 😭 so we did that and I got my son to my mom’s, then finally made it to the hospital by 7am and in the labor in delivery room by 7:30am. That’s when things finally turned up a notch.. by 8:30am I asked for an epidural (I wanted laughing gas instead but they said baby was to sleepy for that) they checked me and I was already 7cm so they notified the anesthesiologist and she said she would be up in 15 minute! Well a half hour went by with no anesthesiologist and I felt SO much pressure, I was checked and I’m 9cm! She told me at this point if I got the epidural I wouldn’t even have time for it to kick in before baby got here. She asked if I wanted her to break my second bag and said I could have baby here in 10 minutes. At 9:14am she broke my other water bag and told me to start pushing when my body felt ready.. pushing was the only thing that felt relieving. 19 minutes later my daughter was born at 9:34am. November 25th, 2021. Thanksgiving day (and her uncle’s birthday) at

9:34am. 7lbs 14oz 20.5 inches long. Alayah June.
