What happens if i don’t show up ?

I pressed charges on my ex fiancé because i was finally fed up with him hitting me because of an argument and or he didn’t like what i said.
He’s broken my nose, i had to go to an eye doctor for some eye drop due to light sensitivity and redness that were getting worse after he punched me and other stuff.. 
I pressed charges in October and they charged him with assault on a female and he has history of being in jail that i didn’t judge him for because i thought he was a change person until now 2 years later he just changed and became this angry person.
I received a voicemail from a attorney office and they said the court date is Jan 13th and i have to be there.. but I’m currently in a bad spot i have no one to watch the kids and the courtroom doesn’t allow kids. 
I’ve been calling the attorney office back and no answer so far… 
Until i can get back with someone what happens if i don’t show up for the court date ? 
I really don’t want to go anyway because i don’t want to see him and i feel like this is going to be a waste of time anyway and he won’t get anytime for it. 
His charges are assault on a female and based of my research he’d probably just get probation

If I were you, I would do my absolute best to show up. This behavior is unacceptable and he needs to face the consequences. Advocate for yourself. If you don’t, no one will.

If you don't show up, likely that the charges against him will he dropped and he would have gotten away with it anyway. By you being there there is a bigger change of him getting time, however long it may be. Keep trying to call the attorney, email, anything you have to do to get in touch with them while also calling any friends or family you have to watch the kids. If anything hire a babysitter for the one day.

Ask the lawyer if you can do it over the phone or over video, tell him you have no one to watch the children, and see what they say,. You literally have until January to find someone to watch your child for a few hours, friends, family, neighbor or somebody

Please try to show up because what if this happens to another female but this time she isn’t as lucky as you and he ends up killing her. I don’t mean to throw this on your shoulders and add extra weight on but please try your best to make it, it’s so important that a scumbag like him be locked up! Or charged!

My opinion is they will subpoena you. Bc two year ago i was in the same situation and I called the cops on my ex and he ended up getting arrested and they gave me a court date but I was to scared to go. So I didn’t (hoping they just didn’t need me to come in) but they ended up subpoenaing me, and I didn’t go the first time I was subpoenaed so they subpoenaed me again and after that I had went.
