Heaing loss at birth. Both ears. Mild/moderate.

Shyanna

Hello everyone! My precious Lilyanna RaeGene was born failing her hearing test. She failed the first initial given after birth and a 2nd given. The next day upon leaving. Also failed. We scheduled to come back 3 days later which also failed and reffered to a specialist. There she failed again and we were reffered on to Boys Town. Her visit there determined both ears have mild/moderate hearing loss. Her left she hears high pitch tones at a normal scale and low at mild loss. Her right is high pitch tones at mild loss and low pitch at moderate. Her test for her eardrums came back normal for reacting to sound which rules out fluid or any type of infection.

Because she failed that test we continue on at Boys Town to determine cause and solution.

Wondering if anyone else has/had a baby with hearing loss at birth and what was the cause if found out and what you did to be proactive. The mild/moderate don't tell me how to prepare so she can grow and learn. I know she hears but at what point. Should I be learning sign language? I've been very stressed and worried about this since the day she was born and feel many emotions with her future. Any insight is greatly appreciated and heck we would take some prayers for some positive outcomes and vibes too!
