Can I refuse getting Pitocin to start my labor?

I've adamantly expressed I didn't want it, with my last two pregnancies but they gave it to me anyway! I hate it, it does not "work" I sit there for hours until they finally break my water since the Pitocin failed 😠

You need to write out a birthplan and go over it with your Dr. That should include the specific note of "No Pitocin". You also take that to the hospital and the nurses have to read the birthplan. But they absolutely should not give you medication you refuse. You could threaten to file a formal complaint if they try to push it on you. I know nurses have a job to do but the problem is, that's all you are to them: a job. They want you in and out as fast as possible and they don't care if that means medically speeding up your labor. But also, you could try Laborite at home until your contractions are close together. Of course that depends on how close you are to the hospital. But then you would get there once you are already actively laboring and almost ready to push. I know an epidural usually halts labor so that may be why they pushed the Pitocin so maybe if you try without  an epidural they won't need to give it to you to restart contractions.

They shouldnt be giving you something you refuse unless its medically necessary or life threatening if you dont. But even then you should always give consent. Why dont you try a new doctor?

You can definitely refuse any treatment that you don't want!
If were you, I would write a birth plan and hand it out on labor day. You should NOT have to be forced into taking anything you do not want.

Pitocin starts labor it doesn't break your water. And if it didn't work you never would've had the baby, so it did work.
