Getting “fixed”, breastfeeding, and outcomes for both
Not sure if this is the right group to post this in but… (this is also a multi-part post)
We are currently TTC for #2. With #1 I had a c-section and planned to do the same with #2, mainly because I plan on getting “fixed” at the same time and #2 being our last. (#1 also got stuck on my pelvic bone due to my hips being narrower at the top vs the bottom, epidural stopped working, and I was awake for approx 24 hours by this point, which is another reason I’m opting for another c-section. #1 was only 7lb 2oz -19”.) I haven’t decided on which route to go though (tubal litigation, partial or full hysterectomy) and haven’t talked to my Dr about it yet due to wanting to wait until we do finally conceive and until our first appointment.
#1 was a struggle with breastfeeding and switched to formula after 2 weeks. (As long as #1 was eating and healthy, was what mattered most to me. I felt I was able to care for her better being able to get more sleep vs waking up every 2 hrs, breastfeeding or pumping, cleaning pump parts, and barely getting an hour of sleep)
I would like to try breastfeeding/pumping for a longer period this time, however I did not know if getting “fixed” would effect my milk production.
I have not been able to take birth control due to the hormones being too strong (I’m rather petite) and the side effects being worse than your typical person and feel that a route of taking hormones for the rest of my life would not be a good/safe route to go physically and mentally.
What experiences do you have with any of this? Any suggestions? Pros/cons that you feel you dealt with after going a certain route? Any issues with breastfeeding afterwards? Are you also someone that has issues with taking anything with hormones in it, if so what route did you go, and how is it going?
