HCG levels at 5weeks 5days

This is my first pregnancy and yesterday morning I woke up to blood in my underwear and Immediately thought the worst. I called my mom and she told me to go to the ER since we both knew I wouldn’t be able to get into my OB or my PCP at such short notices. I had blood work done and an ultrasound.

The transvaginal ultrasound showed a subchronic hemorrhage where the yolk sac is attached. They said it is right underneath where the placenta would be but it hasn’t formed yet. They also couldn’t see a fetal pole or see or hear a heartbeat. I’m measuring right on schedule but they said they would have liked to see a fetal pole at this time. They told me I could have a miscarriage.

My HCG levels were 18856 at 5weeks 5days. That just seems really high for a singleton that hasn’t developed yet. I’m starting to worry myself sick. I have to go back to the ER Thursday night to run more tests if I can’t get into my OB which I know I won’t be able to since they won’t even return my calls.

Has anyone been in this situation before or experienced something similar and can tell me the outcome?
