He doesn’t like accepting gifts

Hi all, I started dating this guy (we’re about two months in) he’s amazing. I personally like to take notes (example- he told me he ran out of pre) so I told him I’d want him to try 2 that I have (to eventually buy him one) he immediately responded. “Oh no, I don’t want you buying me anything” & I said, I wanted too because I wanted too from the bottom of my heart. I’ve always been the type to take notes and get my partner something (small) that I remember he wanted or needed. I asked what is it? & he said “I’ve never been one to accept gifts”. Idk how to feel, he never asks for anything, it’s just my way of showing that I’m thinking about him..

how would we meet each other halfway?
