Back labor??

Question

When I went into labor with my first (induced with pitocin) I never felt contractions and I went in at 4cm but I had the worst back labor the entire time. 
I’m just wondering if any of you mamas with multiple babies had back labor bad one time and then easier the second time??

I’ve had back labor with all 3 of my pregnancies. They’ve never been positioned oddly or anything. I always have back cramps during my period so I figure it’s somehow related 🤷🏼‍♀️

I had back labor with 2 of my 5 they were both born sunny side up so it def has to do with positioning . It helps to labor on all fours during back labor though .

I had a back to back labour with my first. It lasted from 1am on the Sat night/Sun morning, until baby was born on Mon night/Tues morning @3am. 
It was brutal. I was so determined to do it with little pain relief too, but I didn’t realise that the back pain wasn’t normal! In fact it wasn’t until I read my own notes a week later that I found out she was back to back. 
It meant I was dilating really slowly, so I wasn’t offered gas and air until I was 5/6cm at around 5/6pm on the Monday evening. It made my ears ring and made me vomit everywhere. 
I had had no sleep as a result since the Friday night! In the end up I was exhausted. I tried water, heat, everything. 
I agreed to artificial membrane rupture, to little effect. 
Eventually I was so tired and sore I asked for pain relief (remifentanyl) which slowed contractions, so they put me on the syntocin drip. I kept falling asleep between contractions then. 
I don’t remember much of the in between stage then, but when it came time to push, they take the remifentanyl away 😭 
Needed episiotomy, and was very close to instrumental intervention when on my last push baby was out. 
Pregnant now with my second (anterior placenta too) 
And honestly, I’m terrified of the same!! 
Plan on discussing it with my midwife at my next appt in two weeks.

Back labor is often because baby is not in the ideal position like face up towards your stomach instead of facing your back. I don't know the details of your induction, but maybe waiting for labor to begin on its own would help baby get in the best position? You could also look into a prenatal chiropractor to help all your pelvic bones be in the best alignment for baby to get in a good spot. Hope it's better this time!

Ouch. Never had a back labour I could never.. that pain of the contractions in the back is too brutal. First birth was a water birth. Scared and painful. Second was on my knees leaning over the bed. No fear and virtually painless. Gravity and keepn your mind calm can seriously do wonders in labor.
