Im a currently a sophomore at a high school in louisiana i’ve been given the opportunity to graduate my junior year and be class of 2023 which is amazing nobody in my family has done this but with that being said if i do choose to graduate early my mom is holding me back. Louisiana does not have the best schools so I plan to go out of state for college but my mom says if i do i would have to stay at a college here and then transfer but that is not what I want. Her reasoning is mostly because of boys she was a teen mom and so was my older sister and it feels as if she is projecting her fears on me. Also if i graduate early and stay down here and then transfer there is a possibility that my credits will not roll over to the college i want in the next state. I also talked to my counselor she said I could stay my fourth year and do dual enrollment courses and then go out of state but there is the same problem my credits could very well not transfer over which means I would have stayed for nothing. My sister says I should graduate early and apply for the colleges I want to go to out of state and if i get in to go because there’s nothing that my mom can do abt that which is right but I know she would be mad at me, but I know I would be resent at my mom if I stay for nothing.
