Are your LO front facing in the car seat yet?

I am debating on whether to start front facing my daughter. She is too tall for the car seat she  literally has her knees almost on her chest but she’s only 28 pounds and where I live in Canada you have to be 30 pounds but she’s so squished, she’s very uncomfortable. What should I do?

Leg space has NOTHING to do with the height limits of the seat. Child should NOT be switched until rear facing limits have maxed out of that seat. 
Just cause limits are set for Canada, that means it is BARE MINIMUM.

I bought my son the Graco Extend2fit carseat because I knew he was going to be tall (he's always been in the upper percentile for height and my husband is 6'3"). The extra leg panel has been great to help him feel more comfortable backwards as he's grown. I knew we wanted to stay rearfacing longer and this seat will allow us to do it for longer without him feeling as squished.
No matter what, please do not switch until she has reached the bare minimum law! There's a reason it's the law, to protect kids from unsafe situations. My son is 28 pounds and where I live it is also the law to be 30 pounds as well as 2 years old. There is also so much research that explains how their spines aren't developed enough even at 2 years old to withstand a crash safely. When I was pregnant I watched crash test videos of rear facing vs. forward facing and it was enough to scare me into doing everything I can to make him as safe as possible in the car.

Mine is 4, tall and can still comfortably rear face. Ill be turning her very soon as I need to fit a baby capsule in the car too. My 2yr old will rear face till 4.
