Teen with anxiety
My daughter is 13, she’s suffered with anxiety since she was very little. She has received Emotional coping skills therapy throughout her school years, the school do as much as they can to help her…
Offering a toilet pass for when things feel too much,
She’s allowed to take a friend with her at lunch time to sit separately in another room if she’s feeling overwhelmed with too many kids being around in the dinner hall.
But she will still text me multiple times a day saying she’s feeling sick or her belly hurts or her head hurts. She ends up in the nurses room or the office more than she sits in her classes some days.
Her attendance is quite bad due to her anxiety ‘illnesses’, even on the days when she goes in, she will still end up coming home because she’s ‘unwell’ or refusing food.
There’s lots of tears, lots of arguments, she will force herself to stay up the entire night.
She has three more years at school and I’m really struggling with the idea of having her or myself coping with all the stress for going to school.
Doctors won’t help, we have tried many times.
If any parents are in a similar situation and they have any tips or advice on how I can help her feel more able to go into school, it would be greatly appreciated.
